Kittens are available throughout the year so please contact me for up to date information. I don't respond well to texts so it's much better to call and chat to me or email and I'll contact you.
Buyers should know that good breeders do not sell kittens like commodities, and we like to get to know our potential adopters :)
At Aberlady we breed most colours and patterns and mother nature gets the final say as to what we get in any litter :) Most kittens are offered as pets and there is an option to fit every budget.
The the colour is just 'paint' on the outside. However, I understand that some prefer a male or a female, a lighter or darker, or even a specific colour or pattern or both. Liking the look of your pet is an important part of the emotional connection.
If you have a specific colour/pattern/sex preference in mind and there isn't one available immediately, you can always reserve a kitten from a future litter. Just ask when one might be coming available.
To reserve a kitten requires a $200 deposit and you will get first available choice of kittens available that match your preferences, but you can always carry over to another litter for a different kitten if you like for as long as it takes to find your kitten.
Not all kittens are the same price depending on the parents, colour and pattern. Pets start at $2,000 for 'mismarked' kittens and nicely marked kittens are $2,500.
Once you select a kitten to be yours you will be asked to pay a deposit of $400 to hold that kitten for you.Deposits are non-refundable and any refund is at the discretion of the Aberlady Ragdolls depending on circumstances.
Just like humans, not all kittens are born to be Supermodels.
Without getting into the nitty gritty of the Ragdoll Breed Show Standards, kittens inherit a variety of traits. The easiest thing to see is the pattern/ markings and in particular the symmetry. However such things as head shape and boning are important, eye share and colour, ear shape and placement, tail length and coat all matter when choosing a kitten to show or to breed from.
Show and Breed 'quality' or standard are the same, except that show kittens are available as desexed pets (even if you don't want to show them, some just naturally prefer them).
Show standard pet kittens start at $3,000 and the process is the same as pet kittens above.
Breed/ Entire cats are only available to Registered and Vetted ethical breeders and are priced individually.
As breeders we always want to keep some of kittens back for breeding. This means we have to let our older cats retire and the good news is that get to go and be spoiled pets :)
My philosophy is that I like to retire the girls younger rather than older, after 2 or 3 litters mostly. Its hard work for the mum rearing kittens!
Girls are desexed, health checked and held for a few months to heal and let all the hormones dissipate before they are ready for their new life as a pet.
I prefer 'my girls' to go to experienced cat owners and often they suit older people who don't want the energy that comes with young kitten. They are always better in single cat homes as introducing adults with already established adults can be challenging. They can go as a second cat with kitten which is often a good choice for anyone thinking of two.
Retired girls are typically $500 to the right home. Very occasionally a boy is available.
I prefer to bring the cat to you so I can be happy with their new environment and all cats are on a trial basis to make sure to works for both the cat and the new adopter.
